Some of our local “furry” friends; Tejones

It’s always such a treat to see these guys. They are sort of like a raccoon but the name Tejon translates to badger but they are not aggressive but rather said to be playful and very intelligent. You will find them occasionally on the jungle paths around town, in trees  and  although rare, on the beach.  Here’s a great link if you want to learn more about them.

Tejon-the Mexican Raccoon

I was  treated to seeing over 20 tejones  on a recent morning running  across the path in groups of 3-5. Luckily, Ms. Rubi was a bit behind me on the trail and she missed them all! I just stood smiling and enjoyed the parade.
