It’s always such a treat to see these guys. They are sort of like a raccoon but the name Tejon translates to badger but they are not aggressive but rather said to be playful and very intelligent. You will find them occasionally on the jungle paths around town, in trees and although rare, on the beach. Here’s a great link if you want to learn more about them.
I was treated to seeing over 20 tejones on a recent morning running across the path in groups of 3-5. Luckily, Ms. Rubi was a bit behind me on the trail and she missed them all! I just stood smiling and enjoyed the parade.
